St George’s Day service Sunday, April 22nd,Evensong
will take place at St George’s Round Church on Brunswick Street at 5 pm.

The Rev George Westhaver and the church choir will hold this special Evensong. We encourage all members to attend, making it truly interdenominational service. Please support this event.

Annual Royal St. George’s Society Halifax Dinner
will take place at St Mary’s University Sobey Building on April 23 rd

Reception: The Foyer Sobey Building Saint Mary’s University at 6.30 pm. One complimentary drink ticket will be supplied. Wine for the dinner can be ordered during the reception.

Dinner: will be called at 7.15 pm. We shall be treated to a traditional British menu of Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding.

Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker will be Mr. Ken Rowe, CEO of IMP Group International, Atlantic Business Magazine CEO of the Year 2005,and well known entrepreneur and philanthropist. Since coming to Canada from England he has become one of Nova Scotia’s most successful businessmen. He will regale us with his experiences and the story of his success.

Music and entertainment will be featured. Finally there will be a singsong of our favourite English and other songs. A night of fun! Please bring your friends and potential new members.

Dress: Black tie or business suit.

Special Event - May 26th 2007 at 6.30pm
The executive would like to provide advance notice of the Garrison Ball at HMCS Stadacona Wardroom on May 26th 2007 at 6.30pm. For those who have not attended a Gala Ball of this nature it is truly a magnificent evening. The evening begins with a pre dinner reception of wine and hors d'oeuvres of smoked salmon, shrimp and many other fine treats, caviar has been seen in the past. There is a photographer present for your official photo of the evening. Dinner is preceded by an Army precision display. Dinner consists of at least four courses and followed with the Dance in any one of three of the ballrooms throughout the entire Mess. Tickets are sold in advance, and if you are interested you are requested to notify a member of the Executive. This is without a doubt the most fashionable Ball in Atlantic Canada. Here is a great opportunity! The cost is $90 per person. Dress: formal. This gala event normally ends around 2.am. Alan Williams will be organizing tables for the RSGS.

Christmas Party - December 28th
Dr and Mrs Dodds have most graciously offered their home for our Christmas party, which will take place at 870 Young Avenue on December 28th from 3 – 5pm. Carol has arranged a delicious menu comprising a glass of wine and hot cider, Christmas cake, sandwiches, mince pies and other goodies. The cost will be $15.00 per person. Please let me know of your intention to attend so that Carol will have a good idea of numbers. Please send your fee to me at 5854 Gorsebrook Avenue.

January Meeting - January 18 at 7.00 pm
The executive arranged for a wine tasting evening at the at Royal Artillery Park, Dresden Row on January 18 at 7.00 pm, under the direction of John Chamard. This will be accompanied by cheese platters and followed by a video tour of Buckingham Palace. The cost for the evening will be $15.00 person, payable at the door.

Maritime Military Museum Meeting - Thursday, February 22nd, 2007
There will be a visit at the Maritime Military Museum at Stadacona , Friday, March 9th 2007, Marilyn Gurney, the curator, will give us a tour of the many interesting military exhibits. We shall see the unique collection of military memorabilia, including historic documents, portraits, medals, models, and historical exhibits in the Old Admiral’s House.
Refreshments will be offered.
